Back in April, The Mill, an award-winning digital production house based in London, kindly hosted a joint ColourBolt and Mosquito showcase at their beautiful new home in Noho. We were running a ‘cycle surgery’, to let people get their hands on a few of our custom steel bikes, and were blessed with some good weather into the bargain. The Mosquito guys brought along their measuring rig and gave The Mill’s staff and guests an introduction to bespoke bike fitting.
Explaining why he established ColourBolt, our founder Jay said:
“It started because I’d enjoyed the whole process of building up my own bike so much that I didn’t want to stop. I had some time on my hands at the end of a long-running comedy series that I’d been making for the US, so I bought some vintage frames and set about creating a collection of bikes that were all different, but with a common look too.
“I did the first collection in all kinds of black finishes. Wet Black, Dry Black, Bling Black, and Sparkle Black, the only branding was a single coloured chainring bolt with ColourBolt on it. The visual theme has continued to this day and become more refined with time.”
